"Final" discussions on INS Vikramaditya















Rear Admiral Prem Kumar Nair of the Indian Navy with Sevmash DG N Kalistratov and Rosoboronexport officials following the "final discussions" of the financing of the refurbishment of the Admiral Gorshkov/INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier earlier this month. The discussions also included officials from the JSC Nevskoye Design Bureau. Sevmash DG Kalistratov said, "In the near future the project shall be additionally financed, that allows increasing the number of workers on the ship up to 2500 people, the intensity of works will rise. The updated schedule of all types of aircraft carrier tests for 2011-2012 was also signed." According to a Sevmash statement, "It should be noted that due to the insufficient financing of works in the last two years Sevmash is behind of schedule. In the remaining period the time shall be compensated."

On March 23, the Russkies said, "Sevmash have not got payments from the Indian party for two years and that did not allow expanding works on the ship in full. After receiving additional funds the enterprise shall be able to accelerate the work."
